Vinyasa / Yin

  • Newburgh Yoga Shala 5 Liberty Street Newburgh, NY, 12550 United States (map)

You can expect to spend the first 20 minutes moving (raising Yang) and building heat to warm the body, soften the mind and expend any restless energy. Then we will transition into a series of seated, supine, and side-lying postures (settling Yin) for a more restorative experience. We'll hold each Yin posture for 3-5 minutes, using breath techniques from our Vinyasa classes (Ujjayi breath) to access more depth, volume, and space within the asanas. Yin yoga is a wonderful complement to more active, vigorous practices, as it is designed to regulate the nervous system, stimulate various meridians or nadis (energy pathways) along the body, as well as prepare the body and mind for meditation and/or deep rest.
